Dr.-Ing. Matthias Vesper (born Nov 11, 1969; married, 1 son)
Matthias Vesper is an engineer who studied Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany. He majored both in Engineering Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering, graduating in 1996 as Dipl.-Ing. , followed by a period of academic research which finally lead to a PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in Solid Mechanics in 2001.
Then, Matthias Vesper started his professional career as a stress engineer with Atena, a former spinoff from MTU Aero Engines, Munich.
In 2003, he joined MTU Friedrichshafen where he was promoted to Team Leader for Structural Mechanics and Fatigue in 2005. In this position, he was responsible for technical calculations and
numerical simulations concerning the strength and fatigue issues of MTU’s diesel and gas systems including turbochargers. Since 2006, he also covered a staff function taking care of MTU’s engine development process. In early 2012, Matthias Vesper finished an extra-occupational training and received a diploma as trainer for personality development. Then, beginning of October 2012, he was promoted to Director Corporate Liaison Management where he was basically responsible for the coordination of the company’s relationships to associations, authorities, committees, organizations and industrial networks and, within this scope, particularly for future global emission regulations. Beginning of July 2014, Matthias Vesper took over the position as Director Ideas, Innovation & Intellectual Property. In this corporate role, he was responsible for continuous improvement processes (ideas management), innovation & technology management as well as for IP rights, e.g. patents and trademarks. Now, as of 1st January 2018, Matthias Vesper has stepped into a new function at Rolls-Royce Power Systems as Executive Expert Innovation, Ideation & Ecosystems.
